Daniel is a perfect 5-0 against Travelers Rest since August of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Devildogs at 7:00 p.m. Daniel will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Daniel had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Berea on Thursday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The Lions not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 18th (when they won 3-0).
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Daniel took every set by at least 17 points. The final score came out to 25-4, 25-8, 25-4.
Daniel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelsey Gosnell, who had four aces. That's the most aces Gosnell has posted since back in August of 2024. Michaela Reed also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Daniel was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Travelers Rest came up short against Greer on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Devildogs have suffered against the Yellow Jackets since October 8, 2019.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-16, 25-22.
Daniel's victory bumped their record up to 22-7. As for Travelers Rest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14-1.
Everything went Daniel's way against Travelers Rest in their previous meeting back in September, as Daniel made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Devildogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
