Division II-AA recap September 17, 2013
St. Benedict at Auburndale moved up to 203 from 236 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Division II-AA. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Bolton 28-18.
Christian Brothers was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating West Memphis. The Purple Wave came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 31 last week.
Warner Hill was the best receiver in the league this week as Christian Brothers bested the Blue Devils. Hill tallied 3 receptions for 124 yards. Dj Palmore helped Christian Brothers' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 42 yards.
Cameron Towns put up the best numbers through the air as Father Ryan beat Hillwood. He finished with a total of 4 completions for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns.
D'Andre Ferby was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 8 carries, he ran for 115 yards as Ensworth bested West Memphis. Teammate Donovan Sheffield added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Kiambu Fentress. The Ensworth star has 6 catches for 260 yards.
The most important game in Division II-AA this week will be the match up between Montgomery Bell Academy and Brentwood Academy. The Big Red enters the contest ranked fifth in the state, while the Eagles ranks ninth.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Tigers' Fentress goes up against the Fightin' Irish's Andrew Rector.
There should be lots of points scored when Ensworth and Father Ryan face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Ricky Bowers' team comes in having scored 138 this season, while the Fightin' Irish have scored 121. The Tigers scored 56 points last week as they topped Pope John Paul II.
Montgomery Bell Academy added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Pearl-Cohn, 38-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
