Basketball Recap: Dunnellon Drops Highest Score of Season Against Palatka

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Dunnellon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Palatka Panthers by a score of 70-63. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Dunnellon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Nelson a new career-high in blocks (three). Tre'Quori Rollerson was another key player, going 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Dunnellon was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja'Quon Lewis, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Lewis is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Fells, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards.

Dunnellon moved to 3-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Palatka, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunnellon will venture away from home to challenge Hernando at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Palatka, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Palatka Panthers take on the Columbia Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
