Basketball Recap: Champaign Central Piles Up the Points Against Decatur Eisenhower

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln, Champaign Central was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They claimed a resounding 57-19 win over the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Maroons also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Champaign Central was led to victory by Samara McArthur and Alex Parastaran. McArthur went 9 of 16 on her way to 20 points and four steals, while Parastaran went 6 for 9 en route to 15 points along with eight assists and eight boards. Those 20 points gave McArthur a new career-high. Tiana Dean was another key player, putting up five points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Champaign Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur Eisenhower only posted two assists.

Despite the loss, Decatur Eisenhower still got an impressive performance from Mae'Shell Eskridge, who posted nine points.

Champaign Central's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Decatur Eisenhower, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-21.

Champaign Central has already played their next game, a 67-37 defeat against MacArthur on the 4th. As for Decatur Eisenhower, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers face off against the Lanphier Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lanphier has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
