The Fayetteville Bulldogs will challenge the Sheridan Yellowjackets at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Fayetteville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight defeats, while Sheridan will come in with three straight wins.
On Thursday, Fayetteville came up short against Rogers Heritage and fell 6-2.
Fayetteville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Watts, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Sheridan put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let Lake Hamilton get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by eight runs or more this season.
Cooper Terry looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Skylar Sterritt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sadie Sterritt, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Sheridan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Hamilton only posted an OBP of .125.
Sheridan's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Fayetteville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9-2.
Both Fayetteville and Sheridan just can't seem to miss. The Bulldogs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Sheridan struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
