The Montverde Academy Eagles will be playing at home against the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Montverde Academy sitting on four straight wins and Berkeley Prep on seven.
With a playoff game on the line, Montverde Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They beat the Highlanders by a goal, winning 4-3. Given Montverde Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Lake Highland Prep is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Montverde Academy was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Estefania Gonzalez and
Lola Ressler, who scored all four of Montverde Academy's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 34 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Bishop Verot as Berkeley Prep made off with a 5-1 win. That's two games straight that Berkeley Prep has won by exactly four goals.
Montverde Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4-1 record this season. As for Berkeley Prep, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
Everything went Montverde Academy's way against Berkeley Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Montverde Academy made off with a 3-0 victory.
