Daniel Torres was his usual excellent self, picking up 142 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Those 142 receiving yards gave him a new career-high. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Grady Furtado, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 18 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of JJ Lange, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from Furtado.
Woodside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Torres and Lange. Lange got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Santa Clara's offense. They were beaten by Wilcox 42-0 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, the Bruins' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Santa Clara's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Woodside, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
