Basketball Recap: Lumberton Gets the Win

If Hoke County wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lumberton, they should've done a better job of containing Jaiden Shephard. The Lumberton Pirates secured a 53-48 W over the Hoke County Bucks on Wednesday thanks in part to Shephard, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 boards. He has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 29 times he's played.

Several Bucks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Machai Brown, who posted 11 points. Devion Coleman was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Lumberton's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Hoke County, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.

Lumberton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-38 victory against South Columbus on the 6th. As for Hoke County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-46 win against Scotland on the 6th.
