Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Lonoke Jackrabbits, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Malvern on Friday, falling 48-14. Lonoke's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it five in a row.
Jalen Dupree was his usual excellent self, rushing for 154 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for four yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Dupree is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sedrick ?bishop? allen, who threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes.
Lonoke's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-0 Harding Academy and 7-3 Nashville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for Malvern, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lonoke will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Heber Springs at 7:00 a.m. on December 10th. As for Malvern, they will head out on the road to face off against Harding Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harding Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
