This season hasn't been kind to The Academy Wildcats, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They were dealt a 56-9 loss at the hands of Berthoud on Friday. The Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-6.
Jase Farmer threw for 149 yards and a touchdown. Sean Smith was his top target, picking up 67 receiving yards.
Alex Larson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
The Academy's loss was their fourth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.3 points per game. As for Berthoud, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
The Academy will head out on the road to face off against Eaton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Berthoud, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Steamboat Springs at 6:00 p.m. Steamboat Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Berthoud is ranked 42nd).
