Norland is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Monsignor Pace is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Norland Vikings will take on the Monsignor Pace Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Norland rose to the challenge on Thursday. They breezed by St. Brendan at home to the tune of 55-0. Given Norland's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while St. Brendan is ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Norland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Juan Rodriguez, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Rodriguez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Another player making a difference was Ennio Yapoor, who threw for 309 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt.
Meanwhile, Monsignor Pace blew past Gulliver Prep, posting a 41-14 victory on the road.
Norland's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Monsignor Pace, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Norland against Monsignor Pace in their previous meeting back in September as the team secured a 42-7 win. Does Norland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Monsignor Pace turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
