Basketball Recap: River City Believers Academy Comes Up Short

River City Believers Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by the First Baptist Academy Eagles 60-32. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Soldiers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-30 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, River City Believers Academy still got an impressive performance from Lukas Cox, who went 9 for 22 to rack up 20 points and five rebounds. Cox is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Blake Rankin was another key player, putting up four points.

Even though they lost, River City Believers Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Baptist Academy only pulled down three offensive rebounds.

First Baptist Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Napier out in front who went 9 of 11 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. What's more, Napier also posted a 82% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Matthew Levine, who posted ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

River City Believers Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for First Baptist Academy, their record is now 16-13.

River City Believers Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-44 loss against Legacy Christian Academy on the 30th. As for First Baptist Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 74-46 win against Austin Classical on the 30th.
