The Piketon Redstreaks will challenge the Westfall Mustangs at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Piketon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Westfall's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Piketon took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Unioto, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redstreaks won by a run and slipped past the Shermans 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Redstreaks have posted since April 29, 2024.

Aubrey Heath was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Shanks, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Westfall had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 6-2. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly four runs.
Adrina Hicks made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing six bases while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Jill Butcher was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Cook, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Westfall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win made it two in a row for Piketon and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Westfall, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Piketon was able to grind out a solid win over Westfall in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 11-8. Do the Redstreaks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
