The Piedmont Academy Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The matchup between them and Westminster Christian Academy wasn't particularly close, with Piedmont Academy falling 48-33. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Piedmont Academy of the 68-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, Piedmont Academy saw an underclassman step up: Corbett Crews dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Crews is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played.
Piedmont Academy's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-23. As for Westminster Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-17.
Piedmont Academy will square off against Gatewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gatewood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 23 contests -- so hopefully Piedmont Academy likes a good challenge. Westminster Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
