The Regis Groff Fusion had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past Rocky Mountain Prep SMART 61-32 at home. For Regis Groff, this counts as revenge for the 51-26 defeat Rocky Mountain Prep SMART walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Regis Groff's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mahmoud Ibrahim led the charge by scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Ibrahim hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Darius Owens, who scored 18 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Regis Groff's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Regis Groff will stay at home for another game and welcome Stargate School at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. Stargate School is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.6 points per game. Rocky Mountain Prep SMART is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Addenbrooke Classical Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. Hopefully Addenbrooke Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
