It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sabino Sabercats had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against Round Valley by a score of 28-20. The win was familiar territory for Sabino who now have three in a row.
Cameron Hackworth continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 151 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 218 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Hackworth was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Zachary Binford-Wiggins and his 87 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Sabino's victory.
Sabino pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-1 Mohave and 8-3 American Leadership Academy - West Foothills (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.6% over those games). As for Round Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
Sabino will head out on the road to face off against Mohave at 6:00 p.m. on November 18th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Mohave is ranked 40th, while Sabino is ranked 59th). Round Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
