The Roosevelt Roughriders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 88-52 loss at the hands of Broomfield. While losing is never fun, Roosevelt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Broomfield is ranked 26th).
Despite the loss, Roosevelt had strong showings from Seppe Salvatore, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, and Nolan Peterson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The game was Salvatore's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Leading Broomfield to victory were Ethan Zufall and Blaes Kane. Zufall scored 11 points along with six steals and five assists, while Kane scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Kane also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Will Lapham was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Roosevelt bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Broomfield, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Roosevelt won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Peak to Peak at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Peak to Peak focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. Broomfield won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Holy Family at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Holy Family will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
