Nebraska Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Heartland apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Nebraska Christian still got an impressive performance from Micah Perdew, who scored 26 points. That was a full 57.8% of Nebraska Christian's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Herman, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Heartland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thane Wetjen, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds and eight assists. Hendric Switzer was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Nebraska Christian's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Heartland, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Nebraska Christian will head out on the road to take on Wood River at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Wood River presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Nebraska Christian in Nebraska (Wood River is ranked 74th, while Nebraska Christian is ranked 259th). As for Heartland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Exeter-Milligan/Friend at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
