A Season-Best Effort from Andrew Lopez Leads Santa Fe over California
Andrew Lopez produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Santa Fe to the win on Friday. Lopez rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 73 yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 64 yards.
Santa Fe is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Lopez and Santa Fe will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Whittier at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.

Grady Long Delivers Best Effort of Season
On Friday, La Serna got the W thanks in part to Grady Long playing the best football he has all season. Long threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 36 yards.
La Serna now has a winning record of 4-3. Long and La Serna will be playing in front of their home fans against Whittier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Diego Diaz Turns in Season-Best Effort
On Friday, El Rancho had to settle for second even though Diego Diaz put up the best numbers he has all season. Diaz picked up a sack, forced a fumble, and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss). The effort also marked the most rushing yards (33) he has had since back in October of 2023.
The loss snapped El Rancho's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record. Diaz and El Rancho will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against California at 7:00 p.m.

Big Game from Clark As Santa Fe Won 48-22
The second Santa Fe player making an appearance here is Devin Clark, and for good reason. He rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 103 rushing yards dating back to last season.
For the year, Clark has run in 15 touchdowns while averaging 133.1 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 30.29 rushing yards per game.

Rounding off our Top Five is Daniel Castillo of Whittier. Castillo rushed for 59 yards.
