V Section IV recap November 13, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in V Section IV this week, Tempe Prep beat Northwest Christian 21-0. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy lost to Joy Christian 76-43 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Smith was a bright spot for the Spartans, as he threw for 482 yards and 5 touchdowns in the defeat.
He went 31-55 with 1 interception.
Gabriel LeBeau made the biggest impact on defense this week as Tempe Prep topped the Crusaders. The 5-foot-8 sophomore pulled down 1 interception.
Matt Munsil had a great week catching the football as Scottsdale Preparatory Academy fell to the Eagles. He caught 12 passes for 293 yards.
Smith put up the best numbers through the air as Will Munsil's team fell to Joy Christian. Smith's favorite target this week was Munsil, who caught 12 passes for 293 yards.
The Spartans' Smith and Munsil led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Smith has thrown for 3,048 yards this season, while Munsil has 70 catches for 1,429 yards. Scottsdale Christian Academy's Zechariah Gatling leads the league in rushing yards with 1,152.
Thomas Brittain's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,952 from 7,708. The improvement was the result of a 21-0 victory over Northwest Christian last week.
