The Eastwood Christian Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Valiant Cross Academy on the road by a decisive 67-48 margin. While losing is never fun, Eastwood Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Valiant Cross Academy is ranked 59th).
Valiant Cross Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deondrae Williams, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Moore, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Eastwood Christian's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-11. As for Valiant Cross Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.
Eastwood Christian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Success Unlimited Academy at 6:00 p.m. Valiant Cross Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lee-Scott Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
