Softball Recap: River Ridge Has No Trouble Against Academy at the Lakes

River Ridge lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Academy at the Lakes, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Royal Knights put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 17-7 victory on Wednesday. With that win, the Royal Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Ailynn Hauschen was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Mackenzie Vozdecky also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Hauschen wasn't the only one making solid contact: River Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Royal Knights are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got River Ridge back to even at 10-10. As for Academy at the Lakes, they moved to 6-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Ridge will venture away from home to square off against Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Royal Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Academy at the Lakes, they are taking a road trip to take on Seffner Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
