Basketball Game Preview: Dayspring Christian Academy Warriors vs. Conestoga Christian Cougars

Dayspring Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Conestoga Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Dayspring Christian Academy Warriors will take on the Conestoga Christian Cougars in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. Dayspring Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 201 points over their last three contests.

Dayspring Christian Academy is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Christian School of York: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Dayspring Christian Academy blew Christian School of York out of the water with a 66-36 final score. The Warriors pushed the score to 56-32 by the end of the third, a deficit Christian School of York had little chance of recovering from.

Dayspring Christian Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Noah Huxta, who went 10 for 16 on his way to 23 points in addition to six steals and five assists, and Gabe Mellinger, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. The matchup was Huxta's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Swift, who posted six points and five steals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 55 points the game before, Conestoga Christian was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were outmatched by Linville Hill and fell 80-27. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost seven in a row.

Having lost for the first time this season, Conestoga Christian fell to 2-1. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Dayspring Christian Academy lost to Conestoga Christian on the road by a decisive 69-55 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Dayspring Christian Academy, Paul Hurst (who went 13 of 22 on his way to 30 points along with six boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time.
