Rushville is 2-8 against the Bulldogs since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Rushville Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Batesville Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Rushville is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Rushville came up short against the Pirates and fell 38-26. Rushville has struggled against the Pirates recently, as their contest on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Adrian Apodaca, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Batesville beat the Cubs 53-49 on Saturday. Given Batesville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Cubs are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Batesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Grunkemeyer, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Grunkemeyer has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cade Kaiser, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Rushville's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Batesville, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Rushville was dealt a bruising 68-36 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Rushville, Cole Pride (who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
