Millard is on a seven-game streak of home losses, and North Summit a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Millard Eagles will be playing at home against the North Summit Braves at 3:30 p.m. Millard has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Millard is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Duchesne on Tuesday. They came up short against Duchesne, falling 18-2.
Millard saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Berkley Stephens, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Meanwhile, North Summit came into Tuesday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams on Tuesday as they made off with a 23-8 win. The Braves not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17th (when they won 25-7).
North Summit let RAYLAN WOOLSEY and HAILEE PENTZ run wild. WOOLSEY got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while PENTZ went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave PENTZ a new career-high. Another player making a difference was KINZEE DISTON, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
North Summit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.8.
North Summit's victory bumped their record up to 2-15. As for Millard, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Millard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like North Summit struggles in that department as they've averaged .391. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millard was able to grind out a solid win over North Summit in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, winning 8-3. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
