Ponderosa is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Woodcreek is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bruins will welcome the Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ponderosa 3.8, Woodcreek 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Thursday, Ponderosa got the win against Bella Vista by a conclusive 13-5. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Kate McCartney, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Haley Warney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Ponderosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Woodcreek got themselves on the board against Bella Vista on Monday, but Bella Vista never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Broncos.
Maryn Macneil was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Macneil was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Macneil wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Preuss, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. That's the most hits Preuss has posted since back in March.
Ponderosa is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Woodcreek, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
Both Ponderosa and Woodcreek just can't seem to miss. The Bruins have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Woodcreek struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ponderosa couldn't quite finish off Woodcreek in their previous meeting back in March and fell 4-2. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
