Basketball Game Preview: Burns Bulldogs vs. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons

Burns is 1-7 against Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Burns Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons at 5:00 p.m. Burns will be strutting in after a win while Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Burns will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 42-point drubbing they dealt East Gaston on Friday. Burns simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat East Gaston 58-16. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Kaylee Greene was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Wallace, who posted 13 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 60-44 fall against Monsignor Scanlan. While losing is never fun, the Gryphons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 168th in North Carolina, while the Crusaders are ranked 41st in New York).

Burns has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Things could have been worse for Burns, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-35 loss to Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Burns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
