Softball Recap: Onalaska Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Onalaska waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Luther Knights an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Hilltoppers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sydney Kraus made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cayenne Zinnecker was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Sophia Larkin was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Onalaska's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Luther, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Onalaska will take on Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Luther, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cochrane-Fountain City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
