After flying high against the South Garland Titans on Tuesday, the Garland Owls came back down to earth. Garland was beaten by Wylie 71-20 on Friday. Garland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.
Despite the loss, Garland saw an underclassman step up: Penny Chandler scored 12 points along with five steals. Anger Ngeth was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five rebounds.
Garland bumped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.1 points per game. As for Wylie, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Garland will be playing in front of their home fans against North Garland at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Garland has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17. As for Wylie, they will head out on the road to face off against South Garland at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Garland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 971st, while Wylie is ranked 97th).
