Meanwhile, Thayer Central took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They blew past Heartland 66-6 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Titans just coasted through the last quarter.
Sam Souerdyke went supernova for Thayer Central, rushing for 124 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Souerdyke's longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Laken Wiedel, who rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Wiedel wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: Thayer Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. Everything came up roses for Centennial against Thayer Central when the teams last played back in October of 2015 as the team secured a 49-20 victory.
