Elk Grove is 0-7 against Hersey since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Elk Grove Grenadiers will head out on the road to face off against the Hersey Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Elk Grove will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Hersey is ranked sixth).
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Elk Grove beat Rolling Meadows 27-21.
Among those leading the charge was Daryl Hunt, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Hunt's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards.
Meanwhile, Hersey put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 52-7 win over Wheeling. The result was nothing new for Hersey, who have now won seven games by 25 points or more so far this season.
Carson Grove continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 228 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Colton Gumino, who threw for 228 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Their wins bumped Elk Grove to 3-5 and Hersey to 8-0.
Elk Grove was dealt a bruising 42-0 loss at the hands of Hersey when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Elk Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
