The Natomas Nighthawks pushed their score all the way to 74 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 75-74 to Cordova. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (59), Natomas still had to take the loss.
Natomas' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Manno Jenkins, who scored 27 points along with seven assists and six rebounds, and Dereon Jenkins who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jenkins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Achilles Terrell, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Natomas' defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Cordova, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Natomas will head out on the road to square off against Florin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Florin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1175th, while Natomas is ranked 305th). As for Cordova, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
