The Bennett Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Yuma Outlaws at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Bennett is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Bennett is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lamar just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder.
Avant Dickens was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Hawes, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Yuma waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Badgers as they made off with an 11-3 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Outlaws have posted against the Badgers since April 2, 2015.
Silas Baucke made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Baucke was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jesus Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April. Brodie Kallweit was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Yuma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Yuma pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Bennett, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bennett has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Yuma struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
