The McKean Highlanders will head out on the road to square off against the Dickinson Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully McKean focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
McKean came into Thursday's match having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against ASPIRA Charter by a score of 27-17. The win was just what McKean needed coming off of a 49-19 defeat in their prior game.
McKean's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexus Barlow, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Barlow has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexia Jeffers, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Dickinson sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-36 victory over the Lions on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Dickinson.
McKean's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10. As for Dickinson, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
McKean came up short against the Rams in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 38-26. Can McKean avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
