Softball Recap: Eight Straight Road Wins for Woodlake

Woodlake won the last time they faced Strathmore and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 20 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Audrina Rodriguez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marriah Ellis, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Rodriguez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Woodlake pushed their record up to 22-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Strathmore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.

Woodlake didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 win against Farmersville on the 8th. As for Strathmore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Corcoran on the 8th.
