The Perry Pirates are headed away from home for the first time to  challenge  the Kirtland Hornets  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one:  the two teams posted some lofty  run totals in their previous games.
Perry was handed a heart-breaking two-run  defeat in their last  matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Milwaukee Reagan  on Thursday. Perry blew past Milwaukee Reagan 11-1.
 Sophie Sivon made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out eight batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks any time she's  pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3. She also  hit a  double, marking her first of the season.

 In other batting news, Perry let  Elise Strahan and  Sydney Collins run wild. Strahan  went a perfect 3-for-3 with three  runs, three  RBI,  and one  triple, while  Collins  went a perfect 3-for-3 with three  runs, three  doubles,  and two  RBI. Those  three  doubles gave  Collins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Rosalyn Tharp, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-2.
 Perry  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least eight  hits in four consecutive  contests.
Meanwhile, Kirtland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener  on Saturday. Everything went their way against Lakeside as Kirtland made off with  a  14-4 victory.
  Maggie Kothera was a standout: she scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Seirra Godfrey, who  scored three  runs while going 2-for-3.
Perry's record now sits at 2-3. As for Kirtland, their record now sits at 1-0.
 Perry took their  win against Kirtland  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2024 by a conclusive  19-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perry since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
