The East Davidson Golden Eagles will challenge the Wheatmore Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wheatmore took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on East Davidson, who comes in off a win.
East Davidson headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Union Grove Christian let them put that streak behind them. East Davidson put the hurt on Union Grove Christian with a sharp 13-3 win on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Golden Eagles as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
ALYSSA STALEY made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Kenzi Cribb was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
East Davidson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wheatmore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-3 to Randleman, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 11, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Adalyn Boles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emma Carter made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Nichols, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Wheatmore's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for East Davidson, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
East Davidson skirted past Wheatmore 4-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will East Davidson repeat their success, or does Wheatmore have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
