Covenant Christian is a perfect 5-0 against Bethesda Christian since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warriors will square off against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Covenant Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Covenant Christian and Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, and Indianapolis Bishop Chatard kept the tradition alive. The Warriors fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 7-6 on Monday.
Avery Bennett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Moriah Armstrong, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Bethesda Christian was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Crawfordsville, sneaking past 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.
Annah Heath spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, Bethesda Christian secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Avery Gibbs, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bethesda Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Covenant Christian, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-7.
Bethesda Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Covenant Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Bethesda Christian, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Covenant Christian's hitters?
Covenant Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Bethesda Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
