Northwest Crossroads recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Highland, who took down 142nd ranked Griffith, 20-18.
Munster's Ernest Carter rumbled for the longest rushing play in Northwest Crossroads this season in his game against Merrillville last week. Carter ran for 88 yards on the play and finished with 236 on the day as his team fell to the Pirates.
Andrew Barras put up the best numbers through the air as Hobart beat Kankakee Valley. He finished with a total of four completions for 99 yards and one touchdown. Barras' favorite target this week was Drey Devereaux, who caught one pass for 35 yards.
C.j. Scott was the best wideout in the league this week as Munster fell to Merrillville. Scott racked up two receptions for 35 yards. Scott Shaner helped Munster's passing attack out by catching three balls for 23 yards.
The Brickies' Barras and Devereaux have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Barras has thrown for 1059 yards this season, while Devereaux, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 15 catches for 307 yards. Leroy Marsh's team's Carter leads the league in rushing yards with 882.
The Trojans moved up to 214 from 243 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Northwest Crossroads. Highland climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Panthers 20-18.
