Baseball Recap: Reed Sets Scoring Season-High Against Nevada Union

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reed). They put the hurt on the Nevada Union Miners with a sharp 14-4 win on Friday. The Raiders not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024 (when they won 11-1).

Jakob Bartelheim spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Luke Goddard was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Moss, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Reed kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Reed's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-13. As for Nevada Union, they dropped their record down to 10-15 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reed will welcome Reno at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last five games the Huskies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Nevada Union, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Yuba City at 4:00 p.m. The Honkers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
