The Gulf Coast Sharks the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Fort Myers Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Gulf Coast is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fort Myers in Florida (Gulf Coast is ranked 100th, while Fort Myers is ranked 511th).
Last Friday, Gulf Coast didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Barron Collier, but they still walked away with a 20-16 win.
Gulf Coast's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Alex Mcdonough, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Lilly Fultz, who scored ten points along with three steals. Mcdonough hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. Sophia Pasquarello was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Fort Myers' recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in December of 2023 after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-30 loss at the hands of Winter Springs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Fort Myers has suffered yet this season.
Gulf Coast pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Fort Myers, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 2-7.
Gulf Coast came up short against Fort Myers when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 50-40. Thankfully for Gulf Coast, Tyra Brown (who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
