The Northside Indians will head out to face off against the Harrold Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Northside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.8 runs per game this season.
Northside fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Knox City on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 14-13. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Greyhounds: they've now lost three in a row.
Northside got a massive performance out of J. Bustamante, who went 2-for-6 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was Bustamante's first of the season. Another player making a difference was K. Gomez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Harrold, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 13-10 victory over Knox City on Tuesday.
Mylie Maness made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Abrianna Albineda was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Saydee Duncan was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Harrold's record is now 2-5. As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Harrold's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. It's a different story for Harrold, though, as they've only averaged .225. Will they be able to contain Northside's hitters?
Northside took their win against Harrold in their previous matchup last Friday by a conclusive 21-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
