This season hasn't been kind to the Bothell Cougars, who are still winless after their fourth match. They took a hard 84-69 fall against Lake Washington on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Bothell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Lake Washington is ranked 158th).
Bothell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Skinner, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Skinner scored 15 or more points. Bryson Bell was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Bothell were working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Bothell bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Lake Washington, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bothell will challenge Woodinville at 8:10 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Washington, they will head out on the road to face off against Hazen at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
