The Odem Owls will head out to square off against the Mathis Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Odem will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Odem had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Aransas Pass on Friday. The Owls blew past the Panthers 10-0. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Caleb Gonzalez's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Payton Simmons, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Gio Beltran was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases.
Meanwhile, Mathis beat West Oso 8-4 on Friday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
EJ Montemayor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Montemayor was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Julius Deleon was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Duke Bernal, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Odem's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Mathis, their record now sits at 6-13.
Everything went Odem's way against Mathis in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Odem made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Owls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
