Softball Recap: Winthrop Has No Trouble Against Rockport

Winthrop can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Rockport 13-1. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for Winthrop this season.

Winthrop got a massive performance out of Francesca Indrisano, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Indrisano has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sofia Gonzalez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Winthrop's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Rockport, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winthrop will head out to take on Masconomet Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chieftains have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Rockport, they will square off against Hamilton-Wenham Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
