The West Mifflin Titans will venture away from home to square off against the Butler Golden Tornado at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Mifflin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
West Mifflin took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Belle Vernon, sneaking past 7-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

04/22/25 @ Laurel Highlands | 5 |
04/15/25 vs Ringgold | 8 |
04/07/25 vs Uniontown | 6 |
03/14/25 vs Mt. Pleasant | 6 |
West Mifflin got a great performance from Jake Martina as he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Martina has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Chase Maggio was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Ryan Buchleitner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
West Mifflin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belle Vernon only posted a batting average of .269.
Meanwhile, Butler came into Saturday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Kiski Area on Saturday.
Nolan Stefaniak looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Butler's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 6-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Boden Lenyk, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Trent Best, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
West Mifflin has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Butler, their record now sits at 12-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Mifflin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Butler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
