Brunswick Academy is 9-1 against Southampton Academy since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Brunswick Academy's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when St. Catherine's hitters got past them. The Vikings lost 12-2 to the Saints on Tuesday. The match marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Brunswick Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caylen Jackson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Southampton Academy came out on top against Fuqua on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Raiders took their contest against the Falcons 9-5.
Dutchess Rose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sara Hodges, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Braun, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Southampton Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are undefeated (5-0) when they post 11 or more hits.
Brunswick Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Southampton Academy, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brunswick Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Southampton Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
