The Fulton Hornets were the 61-57 winner over the Marshall Owls when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Fulton took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marshall on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), Fulton still had to take the loss.
Marshall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Thompson led the charge by scoring 17 points along with four steals. Thompson hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Deacon Arends, who scored ten points along with nine assists and two steals.
Fulton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
Fulton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fayette on January 26th. Fayette is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Marshall, they will take on Linn at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Linn has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 244 points over their last four contests.
