The Pearl Pirates were the 77-68 winner over the Brandon Bulldogs when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Pearl fell 66-59 to Brandon on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Braylon Barnes was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Brandon. Barnes hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Kori Taylor, who scored 11 points.
Pearl's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Brandon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pearl will take on Oak Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Oak Grove is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Brandon, they will be playing at home against Northwest Rankin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Rankin is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
