Even though the Covenant Christian Cougars have not done well against the St. Joseph Catholic Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Covenant Christian came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 40-32. The win was nothing new for Covenant Christian as they're now sitting on four straight.
Covenant Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alani Owens out in front who scored 15 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least a third of Covenant Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Keeley Chaddick, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Covenant Christian's victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for St. Joseph Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4.
Covenant Christian will be playing at home against the Crimson Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cougars in Texas (the Crimson Knights are ranked 205th, while the Cougars are ranked 561st). St. Joseph Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
